Fran
The Spell
Musically, The Spell, the second single taken from Frans Frantastic LP, captivates instantly with its highly romantic marriage of pianos and soft, upbeat rhythms, while it tells of the moment one finally moves on from an old love. Fran proclaims enthusiastically I broke the spell you put on me in a purposely mock-gospel fashion. Thanks to its light-hearted nature, we are dealing with an instant earwig. While Joris Delacroix delivers a deep bass-line and creaking synths on his wonderful deep house mix, our remix contest winners Jeff & Jessey spin the disco ball and put a generous amount of funk and soul into The Spell, aided by live brass instrumentation and a French filter house bass-line. We promise that all hands will be in the air once the chorus kicks in. Next, Hauptstadtstudio gives Frans original a progressive touch on their peak-time techno work-out, before the 18 year- old Daniel Finke reinterprets The Spell as a bittersweet electronica ballad. Dazzling would be an understatement here. Finally, the big boys Oliver Koletzki and Dominik Eulberg take on Arcade Love to great effect.
