Jürgen Kirsch & JohnJon — x

On the newest release of Koletzki’s label Stil vor Talent the label manager has found both style and talent combined in the two producers Jürgen Kirsch from Nuremberg and JohnJon from Berlin. Jürgen Kirsch, the man behind the cult label Glückskind Schallplatten that features great artists such as Someone Else, Marek Hemmann or Gabriel Ananda, starts off the EP with „Liquid“, a track that one could perfectly imagine hearing in a peak-time Oliver Koletzki set. It’s groovy, pumping, euphoric and very melodic. If you want to put it into a genre, its New German Techno at its best. The trippy melody will make you trip out for sure! Jürgen Kirsch’s other contribution to this release is “Paladina”, a more minimal, yet nonetheless encapsulating experience. Some slightly disharmonic stabs dominate the loop, which is driven by an oldskool-electro-bassline. Groovy! On the flip side it’s time for JohnJon from Berlin, who runs Criminal Records together with his production partner Chopstick. Together they have already released EPs for labels such as Kanzleramt and have featured artists such as Gui Boratto, Sleeper Thief, Martin Landsky and Christopher Just on their label Criminal. On his own, JohnJon delivers two pumping tracks for Stil vor Talent that oscillate perfectly between house and techno. “Sag nicht sowas” is a more minimal affair, where some great melodies are smoothly floating over the straight loop. Then with “Ach Gewitter” JohnJon totally convinces us of his music knowledge and production skills. This track perfectly combines Detroity stabs and wide pans with a modern percussive loop. This track already feels like a classic when you listen to it the first time! The new Stil vor Talent is well worth its money: 4 very different tracks with a lot of style.
