Kotoe

Kotoe (Stil vor Talent, Berlin) makes you want to move — think disco, feel acid, breathe tropicali. These genres and tempos reflect her beginnings playing booty-titty-body shake with Voodoo Hop to where she is right now: at the centre of the European dance riot with its clubs of deep beats, mood-encrusted vibes, and nooks and crannies where you can fuck anything from lovers to politics between moments inside the music. In this world, Kotoe forged a career of being unafraid to challenge what many came to expect from the Berlin club scene, making her synonymous with dancers looking for more surprise, more genre-bending, and more movement. The latter comes especially naturally for this Japanese Brazilian gypsy: From the Machi’s of Tokyo, the Rua’s of Rio, and the Strasse’s of Berlin, you can hear her footsteps carved into her sound — blooming with life, stories, and emotion. Testament to that fact are recent festival highlights at Fusion’s Bachstelzen, Bucht der Träumer, Garbicz’s Juicy Bar or Melt!, as well as gigs at Objekt klein a, The Gardens of Babylon, Wilde Renate or Kater Blau. Outside of Europe, Kotoe has brought her infectious style to select scenes across the globe, touring in Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and Japan.
